L v. S et al (Confidential Settlement)

Medical negligence/wrongful death case involving an elderly patient who was admitted to hospital under a “Form 1” for suicidal behaviour.  The patient was inadequately monitored and committed suicide on the hospital premises.  Kevin acted for the spouse and daughter of the deceased. The case settled for $300,000 ($373,000 in 2023 dollars).

D. v. ? (Confidential Settlement)

Medical negligence/wrongful death case involving a patient whose use of Demerol was not properly monitored by family physician resulting in a fatal overdose. Kevin acted for the spouse and daughters of the deceased.  Case settled for $450,000 ($657,000 in 2023 dollars)

S. v. G et al. (Confidential Settlement)

Medical negligence case involving a child injured at birth.  The child’s delivery was delayed when nurses failed to notify the obstetrician of a non-reassuring fetal heart rate resulting in permanent neurological injury.  Kevin and Ryan acted for the plaintiffs.  The case settled at pre-trial for $11.25 Million.

P. v. X. et al. (Confidential Settlement)

Medical negligence case involving a blind plaintiff whose diagnosis of right sided necrotizing external ear canal infection was delayed, leaving the plaintiff with permanent functional impairments that were exacerbated by his pre-existing blindness.  Ryan acted for the plaintiff. Case settled for $3.75 Million.

S. v. S. (Confidential Settlement)

Medical malpractice case involving twins where, in the course of the labour, the heart rate of one twin was being appropriately monitored while the heart rate of the second twin was not. As a result, the second child suffered a permanent brain injury which led to her death several years after her birth. Kevin acted for the plaintiff. Case settled for $700,000 ($965,000 in 2023 dollars).

M. v. M.-K. Confidential Settlement)

Medical malpractice case involving an infant suffering from posterior urethral valves who was left without appropriate treatment. The infant subsequently developed sepsis and kidney failure, resulting in a lengthy hospitalization. Kevin acted for the plaintiff. Case settled for $1.178 Million  ($1,431,000 in 2023 dollars).

F. v. N. et al. (Confidential Settlement)

Medical malpractice case involving a child injured at birth due to an unnecessary operative delivery which resulted in complications and the child suffering permanent brain injury. Kevin acted for the plaintiff. Case settled for $8.35 Million ($11,672,000 in 2023 dollars).
